A ONCE IN A LIFETIME JOURNEY

I walked beside the most incrediable people on earth for 3 days! THE Avon 3-Day Walk Carlsbad to San Diego.

MY ONCE IN A LIFETIME JOURNEY
My journey is mine to keep, noone can take it away from me. Are we going to allow disease(s) to take away those we love most in the world? THAT IS MY QUESTION TO YOU!!

IF YOU HAVE THE DESIRE TO HELP RID THE EARTH KILLER DISEASES, participate in an event such as the Avon 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk
IF YOU HAVE THE DESIRE to make our world a more beautiful place to live in, participate in an event such as the Avon 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ENLIGHTENMENT or an experience that has the potential to change your outlook on life, participate in an event such as the Avon 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk
IF YOU WANT TO HONOR a friend or relative in the fight against a disease that they have struggled through or possibly even lost their life to, participate in an event such as the Avon 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk.

The commitment, the training, the people you meet, the ever lasting relationships you develop, the event itself. All of these have the potential to make your heart break or your soul rejoice.

There are millions of people that care! We care that thousands of lives are rocked to the very core as individuals fight for their lives against horrendous diseases that are out there, some lives shattered as they mourn the loss of loved ones and are reminded every day of their terrible loss.

I witnessed hundreds of random acts of kindness over the past 3 days. I have been blessed with seeing and meeting thousands of caring people that have been touched by the horrible disease Breast cancer. I was hugged and high fived by hundreds of spectators who wanted to thank me for being out there, helping to raise money to fund research, awareness and to help find the cure for breast cancer. There were beautiful children handing out baby wipes to cool ourselves with, beautiful people with bowls of chocolates, red vines (I will never look at a red vine the same again), and all kinds of goodies to help us along our walk. Our supporters are the most awesome people. They are as important to the cause as all of the walkers are. We could not do this without them.

I lived in a tent city for three days with over three thousand people. We ate together, we cried and laughed together. I watched the survivors day after day and watched in amazement how they shared their strength and courage with those that needed it to go on and keep walking. I watched the line grow 30 people deep at the medical tent. Some blisters so bad they were bleeding, some knees so injured the people could barely walk. BUT DO YOU KNOW WHAT? They were all out there on Sunday to finish the walk. Their pride and their pain worn on their shirtsleeve. I thank God that I am healthy and able bodied so that I can support efforts such as this one.
The Carlsbad to San Diego Walk 2002 raised over $5 million dollars. Thank you once again to all of my supporters. You are part of something bigger than all of us.
